Practical guide · shared household
A cleaning plan everyone can read.
This fictional example turns “we should clean” into visible tasks with a person and a due date. Adapt the time estimates and assignments to your household.
The idea: start with a few tasks, then look together at what is overdue, due today and coming next. Planning and household sharing are free in NeatShift.
An example for two people
Alex and Sam share a fictional home. This table illustrates a plan, not an exact promise about automatic assignments. NeatShift uses the settings you choose and keeps manual assignment available.
| Task | Room | Person | Due |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wipe kitchen counters | Kitchen | Alex | Today |
| Clean the basin | Bathroom | Sam | Today |
| Change the sheets | Bedroom | Alex | Upcoming |
| Take out cardboard | Household | Sam | Chosen date |
A repeat schedule and a fixed date are different choices
Every task has a repeat frequency and an editable due date. The chosen date sets the current deadline; the frequency controls the next cycle. After completion, the next due date starts from the actual completion date. If a task must fall on a particular calendar day, check its date after each completion: there is no separate “fixed annual date” mode here.
What changes during time away?
An absence can cover the whole household or one person. Depending on the mode you choose, some tasks pause or move temporarily to another person. The vacation preview shows the effect before you save. Tasks that do not depend on someone being home may remain due; inspect the preview before confirming.
Try it before creating your household
In the app, choose “Try an example household” to explore fictional data kept separate from your own. Browse its plan, availability and report without creating real tasks or sending the example to iCloud. When you are ready, create your household. Explore this flow on the NeatShift page.
Your plan can start with a few tasks.
Install NeatShift, try the example household, then make a plan for the people who share your home.
